Aerial Photography without Airplanes

When we talk about photographs from the air we easily tend to think about using airplanes or helicopters and using them for taking photos. But nowadays times have changed and there is no need to make use of airplanes for photography. With the advent of masts, photography has changed in a dramatic way. Thus there are a lot of benefits for using masts instead of airplanes or helicopters.

• The main advantage of this aspect is that there is a lot of saving of money. Hiring an airplane or a helicopter can be quite expensive and so for a small project or for daily usage the expenses just don’t count. In this regard a mast use can bring down the cost within limits.
• There is great detail in the work. Images taken from aircrafts will shoot a huge area no doubt but will definitely lack in detail. The aircraft flies at a very high altitude of over 1500 feet and so may not be of a good choice even with telescopic zooms attached to the cameras. So, for greater detail one should go for photographs without aircrafts.
• Cameras that are mounted on masts are suitable for smaller areas or estates. These can go up to a decent height of about 90 feet and from a there provide a good coverage of the subject.
• The cameras mounted can be easily manipulated. They can be turned 360⁰ and a panoramic image of the subject can be obtained. Moreover the cameras can easily be tilted at angles and the images of objects be obtained.
• The mounted cameras can be carried easily on an off-road vehicle or a tripod stand and so do not require that much of a space. Also these cameras can be rolled up and down as and when required.
• The mast cameras are linked to a monitor whereby the images in real-time can be captured. Thus a viewer can capture the images that he sees in real time. Also, the use of video technology enables the capture of video stream which can be viewed later on.
• Images taken with the help of an airplane can often exclude the horizon and the images appear like a map. However, this can be changed with the use of mast-mount. This would provide good balance of the images and give the pictures an aesthetic look.
• Finally, this system being quite cheaper, the shots can be taken and re-taken a number of times. Also, this has a very low carbon footprint and thus is environmentally friendly.

In the modern times aerial photographs are used in a lot of applications like in domestic purposes or in military applications. Whatever be the application use of masts in aerial photography saves a lot of cost.
